Today I would like to share some photos with you from a recent wedding. On this occasion I found myself at The Bridge Hotel in Wetherby, not far from Leeds.
I always seem to have a wedding on New Year’s Eve & in truth it is a day I like to work. Everyone is in good spirits & there is always a nice feel to proceedings.
Sometimes I find myself in a fairly small hotel room with 10+ people in there plus children. It presents certain challenges in terms of the lighting & the space to get good photos.
In this case you have to be patient & let the photos find you, if you overthink it they will get away from you.
Group hug made for a nice picture in this instance:
This ended up being one of my favourite photographs from the day:
Once downstairs it was time to see the Bride’s Dad & make out way to the ceremony room:
The ceremony took place in a beautiful room with fantastic natural light coming in from the large windows:
This is another of my favourites from the day. Like I said, people are always in good spirits on New Year’s Eve:
This was a rare chance to get an outdoor posed photo with a christmas tree in shot:
We only took a couple of bride and groom portraits on this occasion:
Another of my faves, this moment often creates fantastic pictures:
Another picture I like a lot, the best man’s speech went down very well:
The evening reception started early, around 6.45pm. I did wonder how many people actually made it to midnight, as there was a full on party atmosphere going here at about 7pm:
A first dance picture to sign off with this time:

Just a short selection for you today from a recent wedding at Walworth Castle near Darlington.
I didn’t shoot a lot of the bridal preparations on this occasion but I didn't manage to grab a couple when I first arrived:
I have worked at Walworth many times over the years & It is a beautiful ceremony room with lots of natural light.
Here are a few highlights from the ceremony:
I’m going to leave you with this shot today, mainly because the boy in the photograph is playing with an X Wing Fighter from Star Wars:

Here are a few of my favourites from a wedding at Whitworth Hall a few months back.
It rained heavily on the day, which created a few fun pictures I wouldn't usually be able to get:

This was a very enjoyable wedding - full of happy people & just generally a pleasure to be there. Taking place at the Morritt Arms, which is a lovely venue at Gretna Bridge, near Barnard Castle here in County Durham.
I have worked at The Morritt in the past but this was my first visit since moving back to the north east earlier this year. It's a lovely presented & nicely sized venue, which means less grounds & corridors to walk down & more time to take photographs.
As usual the coverage starts during the bridal preparations:
The ceremony took place in a beautifully lit room with natural light coming in, which always makes for nicely lit photographs:
The beautiful grounds at The Morritt make an excellent backdrop for the traditional group photographs:
Couples that book me don't typically want to spend too long posing for photographs on their wedding day, favouring a more natural approach, yet we usually do a handful of posed pictures around the grounds of the venue:
Fantastic natural light coming in again allowed for beautifully lit photographs during the speeches:
Children are an important part of most weddings I attend, and are usually much less guarded than adults, which works perfectly with my natural style of photography:
